Claire Stowe, Editor-in-Chief
Claire Stowe, an Adams senior, is Editor-in-Chief of The Tower, her second year with the position. She has covered a variety of topics as a reporter, including two school walkouts, a Trump rally in Elkhart, Ind., and the national immigration debate through an Adams lense. In 2018, Claire traveled to Washington, D.C. with the Adams SASS group for the national March for Our Lives and reported on it, bringing a national event to the community South Bend. She received three Best of SNO awards during the 2018-19 school year for her coverage of various topics: the school corporation’s issues with teacher retention and salaries, the experiences of students of varying legal statuses during the government shutdown, and an op-ed in align with Student Press Law Center’s “Student Press Freedom Day.”
During the summer of 2019 Claire attended the Washington Journalism and Media Conference in Washington, D.C. and had the opportunity to hear, meet, and converse with a variety of professionals in the news media world including Brian Lamb of CSPAN, Mikayla Bouchard of The New York Times, and Daniela Pierre-Bravo of MSNBC’s “Morning Joe.” She also met with Congressional Representative Jackie Walorski to discuss local and national issues.
In addition to her Tower responsibilities, Claire runs Cross Country, participates in Mock Trial, plays the violin in the South Bend Youth Symphony, and is a candidate for the Full-IB diploma.
