Rosa Morel, Reporter

Rosa Morel (she/her) is a busy and passionate junior at John Adams. This is her first year writing for The Tower and she is thrilled to have the opportunity to contribute to the paper. She is especially looking forward to experiencing different cultural and arts events in the local area and in the school through the lens of a reporter. She adores analyzing anything and everything in excruciating detail and chronically overthinks the media, current events, history, human nature, and her interactions with others.

Rosa has a variety of interests. She spends most days dancing ballet, modern, and tap at the Conservatory of Dance in Granger. She has played flute for ten years, piccolo for two years, and cello for six years. She also played piano when she was younger. She combines her interests by participating in the JAHS show choir, where she sings, dances, and creates choreography for the choir. Rosa adores language, as well. She speaks French at home with her French dad and French professor mom and takes Spanish in school. Outside of school, she also studies Arabic. In the summer of 2023, she had the opportunity to spend six weeks in Marrakesh, Morocco studying Arabic. There, she attended language classes for four hours each day and participated in cultural events and excursions with a cohort of seventeen other kids. She lived with a kind and hospitable host family and got to appreciate and learn all about Moroccan culture while engaging with the environment and acquiring valuable language skills. She can’t wait to go back one day. Writing is another of Rosa’s passions. She often loses herself in her creative writing and rarely spends a day without jotting down the lofty thoughts that swirl around her head.

While she has absolutely no idea where her interests will take her in the future, Rosa has a number of different careers in mind, ranging from international relations and diplomacy, to literary criticism, to translation, to music and performing arts. She is deeply motivated and strives to do well in everything that she undertakes. In her (admittedly very limited) free time, she enjoys running, reading, and discussing her thoughts at length, overthinking and overanalyzing her everyday interactions, and philosophizing about random topics.
