Roman Peter, Reporter

Roman Peter (he/him) is a junior at John Adams High School with a passion for too many things to keep count of. History, Queer liberation, literary analysis, and science are all things he wants to focus on in his upcoming year writing for The Tower. As a queer student himself and the prominent head of the John Adams Pride Club, Roman wants to use his position as a writer for The Tower to educate the world on topics related to his community and break down the walls of the “queer taboo”. Roman wants to change the world in terms of LGBT acceptance and The Tower is his first outlet into this field.

Roman is just recently 17 years old and preoccupies his time with art, music, writing, and occasionally theater. He’s always working on his artistic endeavors which he finds surprisingly relaxing. Don’t be fooled when he complains about the amount of time a piece of art is taking; there’s a reason he’s poured so many hours into it. His longest piece is currently a comic with 24 hours and counting! Some of Roman’s favorite pieces of media include Our Flag Means Death, Good Omens, The Magnus Archives, House on The Cerulean Sea, and in a dramatic change: Percy Jackson. These works of assorted mediums are things he hopes to write about, providing his insight into the hidden meanings, themes, and tactics utilized to make these pieces stand out as favorites in his world.

Roman hopes to bring his own twist to The Tower this year and show students like him that it’s okay to be bold in their passions as well as their identities. It’s so easy to get lost in the negative opinion of those around you, but he hopes to bring positivity and acceptance to the community. As a transgender and neurodivergent kid, he knows how important it is to see representation of people like him in the world, and he hopes to be that representation for someone else.
