Starting with the First Four being played in Dayton, Ohio, the winner of those four games will set the 64 team bracket and the madness will begin. Here are 4 teams to lookout for in this year’s tournament.
Memphis Tigers
The American Athletic Conference tournament champions took down #1 Houston in the championship game while leading the top team by 15 points at halftime. The Tigers are a very strong defensive team and rely on their ability to force turnovers and create fast break opportunities to score points. This team dominated their conference tournament and does not seem to be stopping any time soon. If they can keep up their defensive prowess, they can make it far in the tournament.
Kansas State Wildcats
Led by star guard duo of Keyontae Johnson and Markquis Nowell, the Wildcats dominated the regular season. With crazy wins over Kansas, Baylor and Texas, the Wildcats play well under pressure. They are a great offensive team with many high efficiency scorers. They are looking to bounce back from a disappointing loss in their conference tournament, and will be motivated to play well in the tournament.
Indiana Hoosiers
The Hoosiers are one of the most well rounded teams in the tournament this year. They are led by Senior Star Forward Trayce Jackson-Davis. The Hoosiers dominated some of the best teams in the country this year. They are a tough team that depends on their physical strength and toughness to beat down on weaker opponents. Most of their opportunities come in the paint and under the basket.
Alabama Crimson Tide
As the overall #1 team in the Tournament, the Crimson Tide are the most noteworthy team to look out for. Led by Star Forward Brandon Miller, the Tide are a team that thrives on ball movement and forcing turnovers. They are one of the best defensive teams in the country. They won their conference championship by 19 points against Texas A&M and are looking to continue to dominate their opponents. They are a great shooting team, full of good shooters off of the bench as well.
