Being a reporter for The Tower for the past two years has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my high school career. From fearfully joining the class at the beginning of junior year, unsure of my writing ability and knowledge of reporting, to becoming a dedicated reporter who always puts care and time into producing high quality articles, I have certainly grown into a better writer and creator throughout my time in The Tower.
Credit is mostly due to the incredible teachers, editors, and fellow reporters in the class that have always pushed me to do my best and helped me create my best possible work. The Tower has given me opportunities that I will forever cherish, including being able to write about and share my knowledge of sports, creating content for Instagram with my friends, and highlighting the accomplishments of my fellow classmates.
Throughout my time with The Tower, I was happy knowing that I got to contribute to such a historic and integral part of Adams history, and I felt as though I was supporting my school by providing relevant information on both current events and school activities. If you are somebody who is looking for an easy, fun, and creative way to get involved at Adams, I would highly recommend The Tower. In addition to providing an excellent outlet for creativity across all different types of media, it also opens up the opportunity for making new friends and benefiting John Adams as a whole.
After I graduate in June, I will be attending Indiana University Bloomington with a major in Law & Public Policy. I will take all I have learned from working for the newspaper with me, including my improved writing skills, enhanced creativity, and ability to collaborate and create with others. I cannot emphasize enough how much I have benefited from this class, and how it has bettered me as a student and provided me with a much needed escape from the stress of high school.
As I move on to the next chapter of my life, I saw farewell to The Tower. It has been a long ride, and I look forward to the future, inspired by what I have done in this class and for my school the past two years. I hope that The Tower continues to have support and people willing to take a risk and join such an excellent class at Adams High School, just as I did. The Tower is a student-run newspaper, and has been since its inception, and I look forward to seeing the great things that will come from the students after me that will run it. My advice to them would be to always have fun, and do not be afraid to try new things, because you never know what you may be good at. Thank you to The Tower for all it has done for me and for what it will continue to do for others. That being said, so long, and farewell.
