John Adams High school has hosted a lot of exchange students from many different countries in recent years. This school year John Adams welcomed more exchange students, Fernando Nagy, from Germany, being one of them. He arrived in America at the beginning of August and is staying at a host family’s house for 10 months. After being in America for a couple months now he is sharing his opinion and experiences as an exchange student at John Adams High School.
The beginning of the school year was one of the most interesting events for me because I have never been to a different school than the one I went to in Germany. I was excited for all of the experiences and meeting new people in an American school. I would describe the first few months at the school as different, funny, exciting and interesting. I am now living a life that I had only known from shows, movies or social media. I also think the school year is a little bit easier this year because unfortunately my German school does not count my year in America and I have to repeat this school year in Germany. That’s the reason why I picked low classes, I can enjoy the school life in America without the stress of school. Some advice I would give to future exchange students is to make sure that you don’t stress about school and have fun here. In my opinion, this school year is already my favorite because since the beginning of the school year, every day is exciting and I get more and more experience I will never forget.
In the fall season I joined the soccer team to play my favorite sport and to meet new people there. My soccer season was a fun experience and I really enjoyed playing with the team in competitions and in tournaments.
Fortunately I have met a lot of new people and made new friends. I am very thankful for all the people who I met because all of them were very nice and I am happy to be at John Adams High School.
