In the Adams football team’s second season under head coach Frank Karczewski, the team has just one win out of the seven games played. However, a bright future is brewing for the Eagles’ football program. During an interview (via Email) with Coach Karczewski, he gave me his insight about the future of the program and how he feels toward the team’s performance this season.
When asked how he feels this season has gone so far for the team, Karczeswki stated, “we’re continuing to grow as a team and as individuals each week. This group has grown closer and improved in every facet of the game.” He also believes that the team will be the best version of themselves at their upcoming playoff game this season. The coach feels confident in the team’s continuous growth throughout the season.
Karczewski is only in his second year as the Eagles’ coach, but sees significant change in the program since becoming coach.. He credits, “better relationships with the team and the staff,” as a notable enhancement for the football program and is glad the team and staff have, “gotten the chance to get to know each other more.” He believes that becoming comfortable with one another builds stronger connections within the team.
As a coach, Karczewski feels he does a great job with focusing less on coaching the team as athletes, but rather coaching the players to help them in becoming better people, saying, “I have gotten much more satisfaction out of holding higher standards and our kids have been more focused and disciplined because of it.” He also mentioned that he changed his outlook as a coach and has become more mindful of how he can impact the players’ lives outside of the field: “I have tried to look at the big picture a lot more and focus less on the football side of coaching. Ultimately, we want our boys to grow up into strong, responsible men.”
When it comes to the program’s future, Coach Karczewski defines it as bright, and says, “We have many talented young players who do the right things on and off the field. The numbers will grow as we show that we are doing things the right way and play quality, disciplined football.” Karczewski and his staff see remarkable improvement within the first two seasons, and expect the program to flourish as time goes on.
