Senior Night for the boys soccer team was played at School Field on Tuesday, Sept. 19, 2023. Both JV and varsity played Mishawaka Marian.
The JV team played first, against Marian, in the rain, at 5 p.m. The game started with both teams playing at the same level. At the 10 minute mark Marian scored off a corner kick , their first goal in the game. A second goal for Marian then came right after the first. JV played well but got unlucky goals scored against them and made small mistakes. They were unable to stop Marian and the game ended with a score of 5-0 Marian.
Between the JV and varsity game the seniors on the team were honored. Every senior got to walk with his parents on the field, while being introduced and was also given flowers. All of the 18 seniors on the soccer team got a picture with their family.
After senior night festivities, the varsity game between Adams and Marian began. Like the first game, the varsity game started with excitement. In the first few minutes the game was more without chances to score a goal but with many interesting tactics in middlefield and in the defense to get the other team under his control. Later in the game both teams had more chances to score, but neither side capitalized.. Adams played well and had lots of pressure on goal. The defense held strong and the midfield stayed active because the ball was in their possession for much of the game. After all the time was played, still no one had scored. The game went into extra time which made it very exciting in the last minutes. Right before the end of the first half of extra time, Marian got a freekick and scored. The second game on senior night ended with an unlucky second loss for our Adams.
Unfortunately, both Adams soccer teams lost on this day but senior night with the parents and the dinner at the end made the day special nonetheless.
