Lucia Pillari

Lucia Pillari, a senior, is looking forward to getting into journalism with the Tower and beyond. With an interest in writing and commitment to social justice, they’re considering studying advocacy journalism or something similar in college. They want to use their skills to make an impact and are excited about sharpening their writing and journalism abilities during their first (and only) year at The Tower. Since their transfer to Adams last semester, Lucia has had an amazing time meeting new people, exploring new interests, and stepping out of their comfort zone. They hope the Tower can provide a space for more meaningful conversations and new experiences that challenge and inspire them.

Outside of journalism, Lucia has a variety of interests. They especially enjoy spending time with friends, thrifting and antiquing, doing makeup, seeing live music, visiting art galleries, and making and enjoying good food. Their friends describe them as enthusiastic, creative, caring, introspective, and outgoing, with a “very refreshing presence” and a sense of humor that’s “flippin hilarious.” Lucia tends to find their own way in whatever they do, finding joy in their freedom and independence, and they intend to carry this freewheeling spirit into their future life and career. For Lucia, doing something they enjoy with their life is a top priority, and while writing is something they’re passionate about and truly enjoy, they’re also interested in professional makeup artistry, particularly in the entertainment industry. They’ve loved theater and musical theater since elementary school, with Les Misérables being their all-time favorite show. Their dream is to take their skills and interest in makeup and combine them with their long-standing enthusiasm for theater on Broadway. Regardless of Lucia’s career path, they want to be able to live a full and enjoyable life, spending lots of time with people they love, cooking and eating good food, exploring creative outlets, and having days full of art galleries, concerts, antique shops, and thrifts. Whether through journalism, makeup artistry, or something else entirely, Lucia is committed to following a path that aligns with their interests and brings them joy.
