Haven Murphy
Haven Murphy is enthusiastic, albeit nervous, to be a part of The Tower, the school newspaper she’d thought of as the Daily Bugle, without a J. Jonah Jameson. While surrounded by the many opportunities being a junior in high school brings, Haven hopes to explore as much as possible before entering a career of pediatric nursing, somewhere else in the midwest.
As a staff member for The Tower, Haven is most looking forward to reblooming her writing abilities, a skill she had in early adolescence, alongside the opportunities to experience highschool through a more social lens. Because of the sociability The Tower brings, being a part of the newspaper brings Haven a few credible skills for working with young children in the future as a nurse, like patience, attention to detail, and the ability to properly communicate. Being Haven’s first and most committed interest, she hopes to have the opportunity to integrate her art into most creative activities she enjoys, including writing.
One of Haven’s biggest inspirations, other than trying to subliminally impress whatever celebrity she is fixated on at the moment, is her best friend Sydney. Sydney drives Haven to be a better person, as well as a better writer. Haven believes that the more she loves and cherishes someone, the easier and more natural it feels to weave them into her art. Many of Haven’s most prized moments are the main drive behind her creativity, like that one time her shoe got caught in her pants and she almost catapulted down a staircase, and only “survived” because her mom happened to catch her at the bottom. Or that one time Sydney stayed awake for her past 7:00 a..m just to finish watching Metallica’s live performance at RFK Stadium, circa 1992.
Haven’s personality can be described as creative, quiet, down to earth, but above all, reserved. She’s hoping to open up more with future opportunities and events brought on by The Tower!
