From Federer and Nadal to your local summer camp students, tennis is a fairly popular sport that continues to gain fans and players. Even JAHS has their own teams, Men in the Autumn and Women in the Spring. So here is your local tennis update as the girl’s season approaches!
Over the years, tennis has been becoming a more popular sport and almost all high schools in the area have a team. NIC (Northern Indiana Conference) has been the staple for all local high school sports. Although in this coming 2025 tennis season, NIC has been taken away. The reasoning behind this decision was because some parents didn’t like that the NIC tournament took their children out of school for 2 days. However, the conference still exists. The only thing that has changed is the tournament itself. This was upsetting news to many players on the JAHS girl’s team. The NIC tournament is a Varsity only tournament. But the coaches here at JAHS still excuse the whole team from school to come support the varsity players. That aspect could be seen as problematic. However, it is still unsettling that the NIC tournament has been terminated.
Adams and most of the other high schools in the area have NIC tournaments/meets/games for every sport. Thus making the removal of it from women’s tennis more melancholic. But, this isn’t stopping the JAHS girl’s tennis team from having a blast this upcoming season! With the first match of the season (and first home game) being on April 15, 2025 vs. Lalumiere, the girl’s are more than prepared! The match is at 5 p.m., so come check it out if you get the chance! Tryouts just finished last week and only 18 players were selected for the 2025 season. With a smaller team, it is expected to be a tight-knit group this year! So without further ado, here is the 2025 JAHS girl’s tennis team:
