As the winter chill settles in, the John Adams High School Bowling Team is gearing up for another competitive season. The season, which consists of two-game matches, gives each team a chance to showcase their skills, strategy, and sportsmanship. Coaches Jasmine Brown and John Buck, who have guided the team for several seasons, are excited about what this year’s squad can accomplish. “We have a well-rounded team, and we’re focusing on building consistency and team chemistry as we head into the heart of the season,” – Coach Brown.
With a season that spans from November to January, the John Adams bowlers will face stiff competition in every match. Each meet consists of two games, allowing teams to adjust their strategy and improve performance. During some competitions, two games are played back to back. Every strike and spare typically warrants a chant from their team. Adams girls chant, “We are – JA” for a spare and “Eagles- Cacaw” for strikes. Chants are a good way to keep energy through the tiring matches. Though competition can be hard, The teams lean on the camaraderie they have built with each other and teams from different schools.
The John Adams Bowling Team has enjoyed great support from the families and supporters involved, with fans showing up to cheer on the bowlers at each match. Every team that participates in the league has a senior night match in which every senior on their squad is announced and honored with a few words. The team hopes to build on this support as they progress toward the end of the season, hoping to have more school support in years to come.
The John Adams High School Bowling Team will continue its season in the coming weeks, with their sights set on qualifying for the regionals in January. With a talented roster, strong leadership, and a growing sense of camaraderie, the team is ready to compete at the highest level.
The next home match for the John Adams Bowling Team is scheduled for December 21st at the local bowling alley, Chippewa Bowl. Fans are encouraged to come out and support the team as they continue their journey through the season.
