You should join the John Adams swim team. Swimming is the only sport that can save your life. We are always looking for new swimmers to join and take beginners. To join, you need a physical and 25 dollars for insurance. Swim is the best sport because it offers a full-body workout while being gentle on your joints. To practice you’ll want to bring a pair of swim goggles a full-body swimsuit for girls and boys a choice of shorts a swim cap and a towel. The official season starts Oct 28. Some of the swimmers on JA like Yofi Sandock, a senior say she’s been “on the swim team for three years, and swimming has made her a better person.” She says she “didn’t swim her freshman year because she was nervous she wasn’t going to get a positive experience but on her first day sophomore year, everyone was very welcoming and kind.” Yofi said, “From there she knew swimming would impact her life”. If you’re still unsure about swimming someone’s story is like Jonah Weikel junior He “came in freshman year not knowing anything about swimming on a team but he says thanks to coach Jameson freshman year and coach Josh sophomore they both greatly helped improve his technique.” He says he “enjoys the competitive nature of swim and says before swimming he’s never been on a sports team and it taught him the importance of being one as a team.” If that’s still not convincing ask Addy Szakaly junior she says “swimming is a great opportunity to make new friends and having a close-knit team benefits everyone.” I wondered what would you say to newcomers who might be nervous or unsure about joining the team Addy said “Don’t be scared I promise I’ll talk to you I talk to everyone on the team.” From personal experience she does. I joined the swim team my sophomore year and was welcomed with open arms not only by Addy Szakalay but honestly everyone. The JA boys and girls swim team is very supportive and encouraging. Swim is a sport about personal growth though you’re competing as a team. Anyone even you can join! Practice starts at 4 see you there!
