Joie Warnke, Reporter

Joie Warnke is a junior at John Adams High School and a new member of The Tower. She is a creative individual who is extremely passionate about her many interests. Joie is currently enrolled in the International Baccalaureate program and is on track to earn an IB certificate. Academics have always held a degree of importance to Joie, so she constantly strives to put forth her best effort.  As for clubs and activities, Joie participates in the John Adams marching band, jazz band, concert band, and pep band. Music is one of Joie’s greater driving aspects and her love for it has grown immensely over the years. With experience on over eleven different instruments, Joie is currently one of the section leaders of the saxophones for the band and is ecstatic to be so involved in the music department. Along with music, Joie also enjoys participating in sports. She currently plays golf for the John Adams team and holds the number three varsity spot. Golf is a sport that requires an immense amount of practice, but to Joie, it’s all worth it due to the newly formed friendships and opportunities. Other hobbies Joie enjoys in her free time include reading, writing songs, playing video games, and spending quality time with friends and family.

Over the years, Joie has accomplished many goals, all of which have shaped who she is today. One of those being her ISSMA competitions and gold medals. From instrument to vocal solos and ensembles, Joie has earned thirteen different gold medals, one of those being a gold medal from a State competition her sophomore year with a saxophone sextet. Once again, music proves to be an enormous part of her life. Attaining her first job at Chick-fil-A has to be another accomplishment for Joie. Because of it, she has developed significant communication and leadership skills, along with the obvious ability to support her hobbies financially.

One of Joie’s close friends, Adam, describes her as, “One of the most compassionate and multi-talented people I’ve ever met.” Joie hopes to be accepted into Michigan State University, Butler University, or the University of Notre Dame to pursue music as a career. She is excited to see where her junior year of high school takes her, as well as her time as a writer at The Tower
