The Tower

Jonathon Zapf, a junior at John Adams, transferred from Trinity School at Greenlawn at the beginning of the 2018-2019 school year and is a reporter for The Tower. Jonathon has lived in South Bend for 15 years, although he was born in Chicago and, to be completely honest, wishes he still lives there. Luckily his father lives in Chicago, and Jonathon visits him in Old Town every other weekend.

Jonathon is a part of the Adams Show Choir and played number one varsity doubles this past season on the tennis team with his teammate Michael Dunham. In the coming months, he plans to be involved in the Adams National Honors Society and play on the John Adams lacrosse team in the spring. He would have joined an Adams Mock trial team, as he played as a witness both his freshman and sophomore year at Trinity, going to state his sophomore year, but due to time restraints and bad blood between the Adams and Trinity mock trial programs, he elected to direct his time in a different direction.

As far as journalism goes, he has little to no experience, but has always been interested in writing and hopes his prior experience will translate well to the medium of publication. Outside of school he studies Improv, Stand up and Sketch comedy in Chicago at The Second City where he has been taking classes for the past six years. He is a member of the South Bend Civic Improv Troupe Nearly There, performing every first Friday, along with small stand up performances periodically at local open mics. In 2018, his comedic play the morrow, was chosen to be performed at Notre Dame by theater majors as a part of the Young Playwrights of Michiana program, and when he can, dabbles in music composition. He is looking forward to being on The Tower’s staff, and hopes to be accepted into a college in Chicago, New York, or LA.
