Lament for Lost Years

Lament+for+Lost+Years

Agatha Wright, Writer

All those years and those silly games,

when you suddenly stopped playing,

they just dissolved, as if never played.

When you stopped, they had no more purpose.

Why play a game if no one will play with you?

By now the insult and pain have faded,

but the sadness has not yet ebbed.

All those joyful years of play

are now lost, and fading each day.

Soon you’ll leave for college,

Something to be proud of.

But despite the accomplishment, I still

know that it will never be the same.
